African American History Month Event - Connecting Dance and Culture with Christen Williams
Dancer and choreographer of the Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Christen Williams, will discuss her experiences in dance and its use in expression of African-American culture.
Williams attended Howard University and has choreographed the university’s production of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf. Williams also performed works choreographed by Dr. Sherill Berryman-Johnson, Pearl Primus, and Ronald K. Brown. She has recently performed with Alfre Woodard at the Lincoln Memorial for Constitution Day as well as two Inaugural Celebrations for President Barack Obama.
