Immigration Journeys: "Let Us All Be from Somewhere" Essay Contest
Sunday, October 17, 2021
About this Event
This personal narrative essay contest invites you to explore your connections to, and experiences, with immigration. You may choose to write about immigrating to the US, a family immigration story that has been passed down through your family, or even your experiences traveling to another country to attend school (international students).
You may also choose to address the idea of Home--What is home? Where are you from? Where do you belong?
Essays should be approximately 2-3 pages in length and follow MLA style.
The contest is open from October 1 through October 17. Please send your submissions to krista.rascoe@tccd.edu, wendi.crandell@tccd.edu, or zainah.usman@tccd.edu no later than 5:00 p.m. on October 17.
Please include your name, email address, and phone number with your submission. Winners will be asked to serve on a Roundtable Immigration Conversation via Blackboard Collaborate in November, as well as have their essays submitted to the Marine Creek Reflections magazine for publication.
